Pathology

Overview

Department of Pathology is a paraclinical department concerned with diagnostic services & academics of 2nd MBBS students according to latest CBME guidelines. Since 2017, PG Residency program has been started in Pathology Department and currently, department trains 12 Postgraduate residents (MD. Pathology) each year. Various academic activities like lectures, practical, small group discussion(SGD), self directed learning (SDL) & AETCOM are conducted on a regular basis that incorporate active participation of UG students.

Cytopathology, Histopathology & Hematology laboratories are NABL accredited for various routine parameters including but not limited to CBC, urine & biopsy analysis. It is also well equipped with modern instruments like High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), 5 part fully automated hematology analyzer and automated tissue processor. A well organized museum containing >600 specimens is also there.

Under the aegis of Pathology department Blood Bank is functional 24 x 7 all days to ensure safe blood and blood components delivery to all in house patients. Packed Cell Volume (PCV),Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP), CRYOPRECIPITATE & Platelets Concentrate (PC) are available for patients. In house and as well as outdoor blood donation camps are carried out on regular intervals.

All faculties of the department are trained for latest NABL guidelines and good laboratory practice is strictly ensured. The Department of Pathology participates in EQAS evaluation to meet adequate quality standards in lab practices.
